Football Party Time

After the success(?) of last year’s Champions League gathering, and the Superbowl party back in February, we decided to do it all again for the Champions League final last night.

With both teams being from Madrid, choosing the food and drink was really easy: Piella, Estrella and Mahou. Nice and simple! So I whipped up a massive bowl of paella (minus the prawns) and we settled down to watch the game with cold beers in hand.

The game was a good one for the neutral to watch, with Athletico Madrid taking the lead just after half an hour and they outplayed Real Madrid for most of the game. They looked to be on the way to lifting the trophy until Sergio Ramos equalised in the 93rd minute to take the game into extra time.

In the final ten minutes of extra time, Real Madrid finally broke through the tired Athletico defence and took the lead before scoring two more goals late on. The final scoreline really didn’t reflect the overall game though.
