Snagging For It
We’re still waiting for exchange on our house and subsequent completion on the buying of the new house but as the wheels turn ever so slowly to this point we made an appointment with the site manager to carry out our snagging this weekend.
Normally this means that the house is all ready to move into, all the work has been done and it’s clean so that you can easily see any defects. Well the house hadn’t been cleaned and so everything was dusty, some surfaces were covered in flecks of paint and the flooring issue we’d highlighted a fortnight ago still hadn’t been dealt with.
The site manager, The Wife and I went around the house moving from room to room picking out everything from a hair from a paintbrush stuck in the paint on a windowsill to big dents in walls. There were some big-ish problems like the hot water not actually being very hot, no water at all in the bath, the gas meter turning at an alarming rate of speed and the flooring still wasn’t fixed!
The majority of the issues were small things like, paintwork needing touching up, fixtures needed doing in the bedroom wardrobes, but there were a bloody lot of them. There are still problems with not knowing what certain switches in the house do, so this needs to be looked into by the electrician.
It wasn’t just the inside that needed to be checked over, the outside structure needed to be examined and so did the garage. There were a few problems here as none of the corners had been finished off correctly and at points along the side and around the back there were massive gaps in the fascias!
Just over 3 hours later we decided that we’d covered pretty much every inch of the place and so decided to call it a day.
They now have a couple of weeks to get everything sorted out, including the flooring!
