Preparations Roll On

The weekend means more time spent on Project Arlo and today was yet another busy one! This morning we went up to the property with Mums in tow so that they could get their first glimpse of the house. It also gave us the chance to see what the kitchen looks like now that they’ve knocked through into the dining room.

It’s big!! 8-o

The bathroom had been extended and they had starting putting the floor screed into the study and utility room. A bit more wiring had been done and some of the plumbing pipes had been laid upstairs. They have also put all of the windows and the patio doors in.

After that it was down to the joiners to try and finalise what we want to put into the kitchen but unfortunately they were shut when we got there so that was a massive blow. So we went to the tile showroom to try and pick out the tiles that we’re going to have.

We managed to confirm the ones we want for the bathrooms, it was just a lighter version of the one we originally picked. But we couldn’t choose the ones for the kitchen as we’re still unsure of what colour units we’re going to put in there so we left without really making any kind of decision.

Unfortunately, moving house means that we need to put ours on the market and to do that means we need to get pictures taken and get people round to view it. The estate agent is coming round tomorrow to take the pictures so this meant that the rest of the day was spent cleaning the house getting it to show home condition. Or at least as near as possible, given our limitations!

The two of us scrubbed away from top to bottom. Nets were cleaned and whitened, white paint work was tarted up, and crap was cleared away out of sight. That’s the problem these days, you accumulate stuff without really being able to put it away! Notice how I said ‘cleared away’ and not ‘thrown away’, which would have been the sensible thing!

There wasn’t enough time to get it all done today so it’ll continue tomorrow morning…
