Yet Another Knee Update

The ongoing saga of my knee continued yesterday with yet another trip up to the Spire Alexandra hotel for an appointment with the consultant.

After explaining the history of the injury the consultant got me to stand up and walk towards him so that he could see if I was putting undue pressure on the knee, or if anything was clearly wrong. He then got me up onto the bed while he auditioned me for the part of a contortionist by moving my knees around in all manner of positions while listening to them!

The outcome? Well as per the hospital appointment a couple of weeks ago the diagnosis is that it’s a tear in the meniscus. Just how bad it is will be determined by the results of the MRI scan that I then had to undergo.

This was the first time I’d ever had an MRI scan, and boy is it boring! You have to lie perfectly still for about half an hour while the machine whirs, clanks and splutters so loudly that they put headphones on you to help drown out some of the noise.

The results will take about a week so I have another appointment booked in for next week. This place is becoming my second home.
