Surgery Not Kneeded
See what I did there? A pun! Haha!
The results of my MRI were in and so after yet another consultation at the hospital, I was informed that I don’t have a tear in my meniscus as thought by everyone. Apparently it’s a lot less serious, for now, in that there is no need to have any surgery.
The problem is due to a breakdown in some of the cartilage within the knee and apparently the way to fix this is to take some pills. Glucosamine sulphate to be precise. This should help to repair some of the damage although it could take a while for any effects to be noticed. Up to 3 months apparently, so I have to monitor the pain over the next few months.
The doctor recommended doing some physiotherapy as well so I’ll need to get that booked in once I’ve had the letter from the hospital confirming that I need it and I can let BUPA know.
If there is no change then I can elect to have surgery but it would see me off my feet for six to eight weeks, and I’m not sure if I could put up with that.
