Wedding Plans Coming Along
After a frantic few days of shopping a couple of weeks back, the fiancée has chosen her dress for the big day and so next on the list was the bridesmaid’s dresses and my own outfit.
So the two of us, along with one of her sisters who is to be a bridesmaid, headed out to Maidstone so that they could look around the various bridal stores that seem to exist on every street while I made myself scarce and headed to Moss Bros to try on some suits.
Having taken a look at their brochure previously I knew that I wanted a grey suit, but the style (tails or 3/4 length) and colour of matching accessories (waistcoat & cravat) I was still unsure of. After hopping in and out of 3 different styles, I was still unsure. My favourite before trying it on was the 3/4 length but it had a very box-y look to it. The tails are a bit more traditional, but I’m worried it’s a bit OTT as the fiancée isn’t going for a traditional dress.
I also have to consider what the best man will look like, and as he’s a bit shorter than me, the 3/4 length may give him the impression of being swamped by it. And so after the two girls had found me, the decision was made to go and play dress-up with him in tow on another day!
Meanwhile the other two had managed to find a dress that “was just right” but we had a dilemma… the other bridesmaid wasn’t with us and we had to order them there and then to ensure we got them in on time! Apparently five months isn’t enough time to knock up a dress. What do they do, one stitch a day?
This meant we now had to do a round trip to pick the niece up, bring her to the shop, get her measured and the dresses ordered, before the shop shut at 5pm! Luckily we managed to get back in time.
As Meat Loaf would say “two (outfits) out of three isn’t bad” and it’s a step closer to getting everything ticked off our list!
