Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Completed

Having finally got round to playing Uncharted 2 three weeks after it was actually delivered, I managed to complete the single player story last night, albeit on the Easy setting

The game itself is very good and it’s easy to see why so many reviewers are giving it 10/10 or in the case of one French site 21/20! The story is similar to the first game where you follow an explorer’s previous expedition to find the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow, this time it was Marco Polo. So you travel to exotic locations in a bid to beat the baddie to the loot. He gets there first, you beat him up. Obviously it’s a hell of a lot more involved than that, but you get the gist!

What makes the game though, is the characters themselves and the dialogue between them. It packs in more laughs than most tv programs manage in a whole series! It’s refreshing to see game producers spending as much time on scripts as they do on the storyline and making them more movie-like.

This is without doubt the best looking game currently available on the PS3. This time round they’ve also added multiplayer onto the game, but whereas most games just tack this on at the end, they have actually spent a lot of time developing it. It takes the standard campaigns (co-op, capture the flag, etc…) and polishes them up to create an awesome online experience.

One other great addition is the ability to update your Twitter status directly from the game every time you do something momentous within the game, like completing a chapter (of which there are 26 if you were wondering), getting a trophy or just going online to join in on multiplayer. It’s a brilliant little touch and hopefully other developers will also add this into their games in the future.

UPDATE (25/11):
Managed to finish it on the hard setting today. Bloody hell it’s tough. I don’t expect Crushing mode is going to be any easier, is it?
