Superbowl Party Time
Since moving into our new house last year, it’s been easier to have people round for dinner, or for just general entertaining. So this year I decided to invite a couple of friends round to watch the Superbowl. With the game kicking off at 11.30pm, it meant a late night was on the cards.
We decided that we were going to make it an all-American night and so we bought in some hot dogs and burgers and a case of Coors. We also decided that we would buy some more obscure beers and try to get some from the cities or states of each of the two finalists to drink during the game.
We managed to get some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Samuel Adams Boston Lager (the game was being played in nearby New Jersey) and some Blue Moon from Denver in support of the Broncos. That lot, along with the weak-as-piss Coors would see us through the early hours of Monday morning.

After chowing down on the food and opening the first of our game-time ale, we took our seats for the game that saw the team with the best offence (Denver) play the team with the best defence (Seattle).
It got off to a great start for Seattle who scored a safety just 12 seconds into the game, the quickest score in Superbowl history. Denver’s quarterback Peyton Manning was tipped as the pre-game MVP (having won it 5 times previously) but this was the worst possible start for him and the Broncos as the snap flew past him and although the ball was recovered by a Bronco player, he was downed by a Seattle player giving the Seahawks a 2-0 lead straight away
From that point on Denver never really recovered and Seattle just ran away with the game, taking a 36-0 lead in the third quarter and they ended up winning 43-8. Denver became only the second team in the past 30 years to score less than 10 points in the game!
At about 3.30 we called it a night and hit the sack. Luckily I had the foresight to book a day off and so I could at least get a bit of a lie-in!
