Continuing The Comedy
Last week I was lucky enough to win a pair of tickets to the 99 Comedy Club in Leicester Square. Having been given the choice of a few nights to choose from, last night The Wife and I headed to the club for a night of free laughter.
The 99 Comedy Club is a small venue with, believe it or not, 99 seats in it, and so you’re quite close to the performer and possibly in the line of fire for some interaction. On the bill last night were Joe Lycett, someone whose name I’ve forgotten, Yianni Agisilaou and the MC for the night was Suzi Ruffell who did a brilliant job of keeping us amused during the acts.
Of the three booked comedians, Joe Lycett was the funniest of them all but that did mean that the evening got less funny as it went on. The second act (was his name Ola? Might have been) was quite funny and had a couple of really good gags, but Yianni really struggled with his set and was the weakest of them all.
For a free night out it was an alright evening, they weren’t huge names in comedy but they made us laugh. Maybe next time we go we’ll choose a night with some more established names on the bill…
