A Great Knight Out

A couple of the fiancées work colleagues had decided to become ex-colleagues and move on to pastures new and so last night we spent the evening on their leaving party. The choice of location was the Medieval Banquet near the Tower of London.

Having not heard of this place despite working in London for the last 7 or so years, and it also being a medieval night, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I usually prefer my entertainment to be from this century!

The evening consisted of a 4 course banquet meal, unlimited ale and wine throughout dinner as well as a show complete with court jester, fighting knights, strolling players and plenty of wenches! This was all performed in front of King Henry VIII.

Upon arrival you were given the option of dressing up in costume (for a fee, obviously) and if you did then it was assumed that you were game for joining in! There was lots of interaction with the crowd and plenty of toasts made throughout the night so you certainly made use of the free drinks!

While the whole evening is obviously scripted (apart from a few improvised moments) it is performed well although it is hard sometimes to hear exactly what is being said at times as the echoes bounce around the cavern.

During your dinner you’re entertained with a juggler and two knights fighting it out for the King’s approval

We managed to get a 2-for-1 offer on the tickets which made it only £22 for the night out, and for that type of money you can’t complain. If you do get the chance to go, try and get the same kind of deal as paying out £45 quid is probably just a little too much!
