Double Trouble

As a result of all the bad weather at the beginning of the year, and the cancellation of a lot of our matches, as we head towards the end of the season there’s a fixtures backlog to get through. Usually the league gets around these by scheduling games for midweek and on Easter Friday. And there’s also the dreaded Double Headers, two matches one after the other.

As there are a number of teams who we haven’t played yet in the league this season it’s looking likely that we will have to play five of these double match fixtures between now and the end of the season in 7 weeks time.

In fact that number is now four, because we played our the first one yesterday, playing Cliffe Woods Colts in two consecutive matches.

Of all the teams in the league there are two teams who are much better than everyone else, and Cliffe are one of them and so playing a double match against them could have turned out to be quite demoralising for the team, especially if they managed the same scoreline as they did against us last season.

Having already played them in the cup final back in October, we also wanted to exact a bit of revenge for that game, but unfortunately they were too strong for us in both games and we eventually lost both games 3-0. We should be proud of the way we played as they were quite close games, and if only we could find the net it would have been closer as we created plenty of chances!

The other team that are better than everyone else is Spartac, and unfortunately it’s looking likely that we’ll be playing them in a double header as well 🙁
