A Game Of Thronezzz Exhibition

Yesterday I got the opportunity to queue up for ages to take a look at a handful of props and costumes at the Game of Thrones Exhibition at the O2.

Being a Sky customer meant that the tickets were free and after delegating the purchasing of to my brother in law, he was able to get them for 8.30pm last night. The tickets advised getting there 15 minutes early and so we did. Only to be turned away and told to come back at 8.30pm.

When we returned we joined the back of the previous attendees queue and stood around waiting, shuffling forward slowly making our way to the front. When we eventually got in half an hour later we made our way up to the exhibition.

And it was a little bit naff! In total there were about 20 or so costumes and a selection of swords and other props that totalled around 50 pieces overall.

There were three other opportunities for you to queue up. The first was to have your photo taken being attacked by a dragon and the second was to have your photo taken as you’re attacked by a White Walker. Queueing times for these seemed to be about 15 minutes each and so we knocked that on the head.

The biggest queue was for a VR experience which you didn’t find out exactly what would happen until you were at the front of the queue. Intrigued by Oculus Rift, the VR headset being used, we queued up for it. 35 minutes later we got to the front and a minute or so later I was putting on the headset and headphones.

So what happens? Well you’re taken up The Wall by a lift and you get to see the surrounding land from a great height. Once at the top you make your way to the other side of it to see flaming arrows being fired at you from a distance. You’re struck by an arrow and you die amid fire.

That’s it. It lasts for under two minutes. Over half an hour of queuing for 110 seconds.

And that is the end of the exhibition apart from the chance to queue a bit more to have your photo taken sat in the Iron Throne. So we did that cos otherwise we’d have had no proof that we’d actually been!

If you go there and only want to see the props and costumes then you could be in and out of the exhibition in about 15 minutes, and that includes reading the labels for each of the items on display. It’s just as well that the tickets were free because if I’d had to pay to see it I would be extremely pissed off!
