The Toe Held Up. Just
After 8 weeks of no football having broken my toe back in January it was time to return to the football pitch this weekend. I was a bit apprehensive as to how it would hold up especially as it was my kicking foot, but there’s no better test than actually getting on with it.
In the early stages of the match everything seemed to be OK, I was able to kick with it (players as well as the ball!) although I found myself tackling more with my left foot as I consciously tried not to inflict any damage onto the right foot.
All was going well until about 5 minutes from half time when I went up for header with an opposing player, and he landed right on the toe!
Needless to say it hurt quite a bit and although I couldn’t tell if the pain was coming from the original break or from the whole toe in general. I limped off and after a bit of freeze spray numbed the pain a bit I then strapped my two toes together to give it a bit of support.
Luckily, as it happened just before half time I was able to give it a 20 minute rest before returning to the pitch for the second half. Thankfully the pain subsided and after the end of the game there was only the dull pain from having been trodden on as opposed to a re-occurrence of the break!
