The Saga Continues

It’s been nearly two years since I posted on the subject of the numerous issues that we had when buying our house in 2012 and since then we’ve had continuous problems with the construction company and also the insurance company with regards to getting the many, many snagging issues sorted.

We still have electrical issues, leaks from the ceiling due to plumbing problems, numerous cracks and bends in walls, poorly finished fittings, pipes that clunk and tick when you run a tap, toilets that don’t flush properly, one that isn’t even fixed to the wall, a bath that was removed and not put back properly, carpets not laid properly, doors with 3 inch gaps at the bottom of them, and plenty of others too long to list.

But at least they removed the extra window that they “forgot” to take out and bricked up on the inside! Dickheads!

The biggest problem we have is a problem with the flooring upstairs. Every time you walk around, from downstairs it sounds like a herd of elephants are performing Riverdance up there. I could put up with a couple of creaks but when it becomes impossible to watch the TV because the noise drowns out the program you’re watching there is something seriously wrong.

They tried to fix this a number of times by drilling hundreds of screws into the floorboards to try and fix them in place. But when the problem lies with the joists not being fitted properly, this has the effect of resolving absolutely fuck all!

And so after trying since June to get them to come back and fix things, we finally managed to get them to commit to coming in to fix all of the problems, via a series of veiled threats to the insurance company. Yesterday morning, four workmen turned up to attempt that major problem of crap flooring. This involves pulling up all of the carpets, cutting out the flooring, glueing all the joists into place and re-laying a new floor throughout the whole of the upstairs.

And they reckon they’ll have this done in a week!

Considering we know exactly how shit they are, I reckon two weeks minimum…
