The Beer Is Here
After finding out the teams for this year’s Superbowl, @phileasphil and I went on a hunt to find appropriate beers to drink while watching the game. The rules are simple: find beers from the home towns of the two competing teams, or as near as you can get.
This year the two teams are from Seattle and New England so we hunted around a couple of sites that we know of looking for breweries that were situated in these two parts of the US.
Seattle was the easiest one to find, there’s a brewery called Redhook and they have an IPA called Longhammer which has an ABV of a get-you-drunk-quickly 6.2%. Six bottles of these were immediately ordered.
New England proved to be a little more trickier but we eventually found a brewery that was as close as we could get called Smuttynose. Such a brilliant name, how could you not order some of their beers? They had a few different ones to choose from so I decided on a few bottles of Bouncy House IPA, while @phileasphil chose the Shoals Pale Ale.
Because I was out at work when the beer was delivered, I had to go and pick them up yesterday from the couriers and so they’re now sitting in the fridge waiting for game time on Superbowl night.
While these beers are for drinking during the game, we still have to buy some weak-as-piss alcohol like Coors or Miller for pre-game, but any old supermarket will have them.
