Revisiting A Classic
After spending months playing Red Dead Redemption, trying to complete the single player campaign, last night I returned to a classic for a bit of multiplayer action, Uncharted 2.
Although the game is a year old, the amount of fun that you can have online with it is still up there with the best of them There are plenty of random people still playing it, so getting into a game with the great unwashed is still relatively easy. I got into a quick Deathmatch with some randoms just to get a feel for the game and to try and remember what the controls were, before hooking up with a group of players and friends from the Coffin Dodgers site for a couple of hours of multiplayer mayhem.
Having not played it for a while, I think I proved to be the worst player there, mainly because I kept reverting back to RDR controls and trying to go into dead-eye mode. That doesn’t work. Trying to snap to cover using the R1 button instead of O is another way of making sure you die relatively quickly!
After a while though, I got a little better and actually managed to kill people, although why I was killing them by punching them instead of shooting them from a safe distance is still a question I’m trying to answer!
Playing online against random people is usually all about levelling up, getting better at the game, and generally making an arsehole of yourself. But the joy of playing against people you know is that you can actually have a laugh while playing. The banter is always vitriol free, good natured and sometimes hilarious as you can get away with more than you can with people you don’t know!
Over an hour and a half we played through a variety of maps and game types but didn’t get round to playing what in my opinion is the best game available for fun, a deathmatch with RPGs only! Maybe next time…
