Phone Upgrade Time

Having been with O2 for two years now, our contracts are due for renewal in a couple of days so I phoned up the customer services team today to try and see what they could do for us and came away with a decent deal.

As always I’ve been shopping around for a month or so to find out what phones are out and what the best deals are on all of the different networks. I had already decide which phone I wanted, so the biggest hurdle was finding a suitable one for The Wife. She likes a smaller phone, but the majority of phones these days seem to be on the large size.

In the end I decided on a Sony Xperia M for her and an Xperia Z1 Compact for me, both in black. Now I had to find a decent tariff for both of them.

As the Z1 is a new phone the best deal I could find was on O2, albeit through the Carphone Warehouse. Their monthly cost was £5 cheaper and there was no upfront cost where as O2 direct were going to charge £30 for the handset.

For The Wife’s Xperia M, the 3 network had a cheaper tariff so I now had some ammo with which I could attack O2 with.

After about 40 minutes on the phone to them, I managed to get my Z1 with a discounted tariff and no upfront charge, and the Xperia M on a cheaper tariff along with 200 extra minutes.

All I’ve got to do now is wait for the phones to be delivered to my office on Monday…
