Coming Along Nicely-ish
We popped up to the new house again yesterday just to take a quick look to see how things are progressing and it all appears to be coming along nicely. Well, apart from a couple of tiny glitches.
The first thing we noticed when we got there is that they had started building one of the external garages, the one that will belong to our neighbour. Because the site office is currently situated where our garage will be going, it won’t be started for another week or so yet.
Inside the property, the kitchen has been delivered in all its many parts. So the whole space is taken up by crates of cupboard frames, fittings, and the large electrical items that are all going to be fitted into it including the dishwasher and double oven. We didn’t spot the fridge freezer though, hopefully it was there somewhere.
In the lounge were all the doors that are going up around the house. Not as nice as the ones that were originally intended to be put in, but apparently those are discontinued so there’s sod all we can do about that!
However, we were missing our internal doors that are to go between the lounge and dining room. Unlike the rest of the doors which are all solid wood (effect), these are to be part glazed and wood panel. But there was no sign of them.
But most importantly they had put that door frame and dug out the hinge slots on the wrong side of the frame. We had specifically told them that we wanted the doors to open into the dining room but they’d ignored us. So I wrote onto the door frames that they needed to be switched around. Hope they don’t think that rude of me!
In the garden, they had extended the patio as we had asked and the soil had been delivered so that they could start levelling off the garden and rotavate it before laying down the turf.
We got to meet one of our neighbours (the ones that had gazumped us, we didn’t tell them that), they seemed OK, an older couple so hopefully they won’t be up all night having parties!
