Coming Along Nicely-ish Still

Having not been up there for a week or so, and with us both having the day off after our Edinburgh trip, we popped up to the new house again today to see how things were coming along and to see what things we needed to get them to change again! Haha!

On the plot, the next door neighbour’s garage is coming along, it’s got a floor and the walls are half built. As the developer’s offices (read “containers”) were no longer up it means that the building of our garage can’t be too far off now either.

In the front of the property they had made a start on laying the foundations of the driveways and had built up the paths leading to the houses. Around the sides, all of the fences were up as were the pathways around each side.

Inside, the only major change was in the kitchen where all of the units were in, along with the dishwasher, oven and fridge freezer and all the doors were opening in the right direction. The worktops were also in place and it looked as though only the overhead extractor and the sink were the only things left to put in place.
Elsewhere in the property, they had changed all of the bedroom cupboard doors, having put the wrong ones on previously and the loft ladder had been put in the bedroom. Unfortunately The Wife wanted it swapped round so that it opened in the opposite direction otherwise we wouldn’t be able to get a wardrobe along one of the walls as the ladder would have smacked right through it. So this would need to be changed.

Thinking about it now, it would also have been a pain in the arse to get larger items up and down the loft ladder stairs as you would be up against a wall with little room for manoeuvre.

The majority of the electrics have been done, with light switches, plug sockets and cut-off switches in place along with the main circuit board. None of the plumbing has yet been done so the bathrooms are still quite bare although the bath and shower floors were downstairs in the kitchen waiting to be unpacked.

Still no exchange or completion date but the fact that the useless estate agents have done diddly squat about selling ours that’s not surprising!
