C Is For Chop Shop
Last night was the third of our Alphabet Dinner Club gatherings and the venue chosen for C was Chop Shop in Haymarket.
After meeting up for a quick drink at Grace just off Shaftesbury Avenue, we headed down to Chop Shop on Haymarket for some food. The place, as the name suggests, specialises in chops and steaks and so it would have been rude not to go for one of these.
I opted for the 35 day aged rosemary brushed beef rib chop, which was as much a mouthful to say as to eat! Cooked to medium-rare as recommended, with an egg on top, it was really tasty! Add in some creamed spinach, baked cheesy leeks, onion rings and chips to share around the table and top it off with a vodka bacon peppercorn sauce and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in quite a while.
That doesn’t include the ones that The Wife cooks, obviously!
Conversation flowed, as did the wine, as we hadn’t all seen each other since January (last month there were just three of us) and it was good to catch up on people’s news. By the end of the meal, everyone was stuffed and so there was no room for desserts. Which is a shame cos I think some of them would have been good!
Now to decide where to go for ‘D’…
