All Over For Another Year

The 3-month long charade of Consumermas is now over and as many people slip back into their routines, greatful for the 2 extra days holiday, the rest of us are stuck with coming up with “Shit To Do”.

To me this is one of the most boring periods of the year, the time between Christmas and New Year when, if you don’t like shopping or don’t have the need to buy anything even though every shop has their Sales on, there is simply bugger all to do. The weather is crap so you can’t go out for walks, or bike rides (not that we own bikes, it was just an example!) so whatever you do has to be done indoors. And if I’m perfectly honest, if I can do something indoors, I may as well stay at home where I have a comfortable sofa, heating at the temperature I want it and all the food and drink I could need!

But this has its shortfalls too. There’s nothing on the tellybox, because most of the decent things (of which this year there was feck all) are on over the 3 days of Christmas and New Years Eve only so your stuck with repeats and films you saw 15 years ago! The DVD boxset you received for Christmas is the only thing that you can think of that will pass the time but do you really want to spend 10 hours watching the same thing over and over?

So the only option left is to invite people round, but they’re either out shopping for shit they don’t need at a price that’s only slightly lower than it was 2 weeks ago, or they are sat at home in the warm, on a comfy sofa just like you are!

It’s getting that desperate, I might start checking my work email…
