For my birthday last year I was given an afternoon tea experience at Eagle Heights, a local(ish) bird sanctuary and yesterday me, The Wife & The Girls went out for the afternoon to enjoy some avian extravagance!

We started our visit with a wander around the grounds taking in the variety of birds, which included different species of eagles, owls, macaws, and ravens. They also had some alpaca’s and husky dogs so it’s not just birds on offer.

We took our seats for the flying demonstration which had a few different types of birds swooping low over the audience, including the large Steller’s sea eagle which was a bit scary up close.

We had a bit of time to kill before our afternoon tea so spent some time with the huskies, which just happen to be one of my favourite types of dog. They are such adorable creatures with such stunning blue eyes.

We then headed back to the restaurant to enjoy our afternoon tea. A selection of sandwiches cakes and tea awaited us and we tucked in eagerly and ate the whole lot! After the mandatory trek through the gift shop we left and headed home.
