WTF? #2

The second WTF story of the day concerns the behemoth that was Jade Goody. Apparently talks are in place with a TV network “to create a talent show to find an ‘ordinary girl’ to play Jade Goody in a musical based on her life“.

Oh, the irony of it. Having a talent show to find somebody to play a person who had no discernible talent!

But why is there being a musical about her life in the first place? She did nothing! She went on a TV show and became famous for being stupid. Is that what we as a country should be proud of, elevating someone like her to iconic status?

I whole heartedly agree with the comments made by Michael Parkinson about her “representing all that is paltry and wretched about Britain today”. And it is the media who are to blame. Through the media, cancer turned Goody from an ignorant racist to a caring mother in the blink of an eye. She was manipulated at every turn and stupid people lapped it up at every opportunity.
