Too Honest For My Own Good
Prior to going to a comedy gig last night, the wife and I met up with a friend for a bite to eat before the show. We chose the GBK on Frith St so that we could use my new Tastecard to get 50% off our food bill.
When I went to pay, I think the girl who took the order got a bit confused because instead of giving me £20 change she gave me £70! Twenty quid more than I’d actually paid. And when I tried to point it out to the other people behind the counter they couldn’t understand what had happened.
After about 5 minutes I managed to get through to them that they had given me too much money and so they took it all back and slowly worked through the bill to give me the right change. It didn’t help that on the receipt they’d put that I’d paid £100. Maybe the waitress thought the £50 note I’d given her was actually a £100 or else why would I have handed over more than one note of a denomination that easily covered the bill on it’s own?
