Something To Look Forward To

Despite the crappy start to the year my spirits can’t be squashed completely because in less than a month the gf and I are going away for a couple of weeks on what is her “dream holiday”.

Every year when we’ve had the “Where shall we go on holiday?” conversation there has always been one location that comes up time and time again but unfortunately has been out of our price range. Well I say out of our price range, this isn’t exactly true. You can go to this place and do it cheaper (which we have contemplated before) but she has always wanted “to do it properly” which means stumping up more money than we would normally spend on our holidays.

Last year we were fortunate to come into a little bit of money and so she decided that this would be the time to do it properly. Which is why in three weeks time we shall be off to the Maldives for two weeks of sun, sea and luxury.

“Doing it properly” consists of a sea plane transfer to the all-inclusive resort, a room on stilts over the water so that you can walk straight into it from your balcony, a viewing panel in the floor so you can watch the sea-life swimming below you, as well as fine dining and all you can drink cocktails!

Our resort is the Chaaya Lagoon Hakuna Matata Hakuraa Huraa in the Meemu Atoll and is a small island (it takes about 30 minutes to walk around it!) consisting of about 80 rooms (70 of which are water bungalows), a spa restaurant and bar. Doesn’t sound like there’s much to do there but that is exactly what we want. Two weeks of doing nothing, except for some scuba diving and snorkeling.

In the lead-up to this holiday the gf has done more research than on anything before and she even joined a forum dedicated to the Chaaya resorts so that she could be certain of making this the holiday of a lifetime. The forum has a wealth of information put together by a few people who have been to the resort on numerous occasions, and who are more than happy to help answer any questions you might have!
