Pottery-ing Around

With Christmas on the horizon and with it being Little E’s first one, The Wife and I decided that we should get something to commemorate this event by getting her a personalised tree ornament. We could have gone to any site that specialises in creating personalised gifts but we decided to do it ourselves and actually make her something with our own hands.

A friend of ours had mentioned a place nearby called Little Potters. It’s a pottery painting studio that you go along to, choose what you want to paint and do just that. They have loads of different objects that you can do from small ornaments up to big garden gnomes.

With us wanting something for Christmas, we both chose to do a tree bauble, and after getting a bit of advice on what to do we set about choosing our colours and deciding on exactly what we wanted to put on them.

It was suggested that we get a hand print of Little E put onto it and so with help from one of the staff we had her hands covered in paint and then pressed against the bauble. She didn’t like this and got a bit upset. After cleaning her hands we carried on painting some holly and berries and tried to make the baubles look a bit more Christmassy. My artistic skills leave a lot to be desired!

When we’d finished we took them over to the counter to pay for them and to get them put in the queue to be fired. This would take a little while and so we’ve got to head back in a few days to pick up the finished article…
