Hand, Foot, AND Mouth?
After the joy of Christmas Day and seeing Little E enjoying her first Christmas, I’ve been laid up for the last few days, having come down with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease! Yay!
I started feeling ill the day after Boxing day, with a sore throat, headache and feeling tired, so spent most of the afternoon in bed. I also had small red spots appearing on my hands and the soles of my feet. With it being the holidays I wasn’t able to get to a doctors for a couple of days and when I eventually did he confirmed that I had contracted hand foot and mouth. From where, I do not know.
The problem with this is that it is highly contagious and so I had to be very careful that I didn’t pass on the disease to The Wife and especially not to Little E, as it can be quite horrible for small children to get. This meant a rigorous cleaning of anything I came into contact with, and making sure I washed my hands constantly to minimise the risk of contamination.
After a day or two I was starting to feel a bit better but the spots have remained and are likely to for a while yet. There is also the possibility that my fingernails or toenails may fall off as the nail beds get affected, so that’s something to look forward to!
Update: 25th April
Big toe toenails have just come off!
