Oh-Oh, Here Comes The Illness
It was bound to happen. Four days before we set off on our holiday to the Maldives, I’ve started to come down with something! Last night I spent most of the evening shivering, despite having on three layers of clothing and this morning it’s not much better. I’ve got an aching feeling in the back of my neck and in my arms, and a slight pounding in my head.
At the moment I’m dosed up on paracetamol, although it doesn’t appear to be having any effect on me, if anything it’s making me tired!
This isn’t the first time I’ve been ill as a holiday approaches. The day before we flew to Mexico I came down with a 48 hour bug that had me firing from both ends pretty much constantly. The first few hours of that flight weren’t great, but at least I knew it wouldn’t last too long as the gf had had it the day before me! I don’t think there’s anything worse than flying when not feeling well.
Apparently there are more bugs on planes these days then there were before they made flights non-smoking. This is because when you could smoke on a plane the air was cleaned and recycled at a much higher rate to clear the cabin. These days it’s not done as often and so germs linger around a lot longer than they used to!
On our first trip abroad together to Sri Lanka I managed to get food poisoning on the plane (I’m never flying with Monarch again!) and so I spent the first two days of the holiday in bed. The gf wasn’t too impressed, but at least she got to work on her tan in peace!
By a miracle of miracles I actually managed to get an appointment at the doctors for Thursday, just in case I haven’t managed to shift it. Can’t remember the last time I didn’t have to wait more than a week for an appointment!
