Meeting An Idol

I’m a regular listener to the West Ham podcast Stop! Hammer Time, or S!HT for short, and I’ve also attended the first two end of season live recordings that they’ve put on. Tonight was the 3rd in the series and they had an extra special guest on the show as well. Former player and fans favourite Julian “The Terminator” Dicks.

He was a great player for West Ham, marauding up and down the left wing as our left back, going into crunching tackles, getting into fights and getting sent off, all for the claret and blue of West Ham. It’s a shame that his second stint at the club after returning from Liverpool didn’t quite see him hit the glory days of his first.

The podcast was split into two recordings and during the break I got my chance to speak to Julian and to also get my photo taken with him.

Throughout the night he expressed his views on the current state of the club and the way it is being run and it is fair to say that he’s not impressed. He didn’t hold back in his opinions on Big Fat Sam and the style of football currently being played by the team and he reckons that we need to get rid of him as soon as possible if the club is to move forward.

However, I couldn’t quite get behind his comment that Trevor Morley was a better striker than Andy Carroll is!
