Last Day In Toronto
Today was our last day in Toronto and it was another glorious day and so with nothing actually planned for the day, except for trying to find some Canadian tobacco for my dad, we packed our suitcases, checked out of the hotel and headed out for another wander.
We walked along the harbourfront and then up Yonge St trying all of the shops we came across for some tobacco but it was really difficult to find a shop that sold the stuff. Cigarettes, yes. Rolling papers, yes. But no packs of tobacco. In the end I just happened to spot an actual tobacconist across the street and he was able to provide us with some Canadian Classic from their humidor which was the only Canadian tobacco that they had!
We continued our walk up Yonge St and then jumped back on to the city tour bus to go up to Casa Loma in the north of the city. When we eventually got there after a delay while they tried to fix the microphone we went to take some pictures only to find that our camera had died. The one we’d bought three days previously!
After a phone call to the store to find out what to do, we then had to hurry back to the hotel to pick up the box and receipt before going back to the store. To do this we jumped on the next tour bus back down into the city center, hopped off at the CN Tower, dashed back to the hotel, fished out all of the packaging, and then jumped back onto the tour bus that we had initially got up to Casa Loma to take us in the general direction of the store.
The people in the shop were really helpful and after a little bit of investigation decided that the problem was with the battery and so they just swapped it for a new one. No hassles at all!
With the panic over, we headed back to Yonge St to grab a drink (more Canadian lager!) and some food before we went back to the hotel to be picked up by our car for the journey to the airport.
It has been a great few days in Toronto, the weather has been glorious, we got to see all the sights and I even got to see where I used to live some 39 years ago. Maybe I won’t leave it 28 years until I come back again!
