It Was Cold, They Did Play
A tweet from @cheelo brought back a few memories last night. He wrote:
I’d wish google wasn’t as tight as they used to be, remember when they took us to watch Coldplay @ryandrews @melcarson @no_bradders

The day in question was back in June 2005 when, as customers who spent a lot of money with Google, we were taken out by the media giants to see Coldplay in Concert at Crystal Palace. Chee’s tweet prompted a couple of replies from @MelCarson and @no_bradders…
@MelCarson @no_bradders @cheelo @ryandrews AND THEN MADE US WATCH COLDPLAY

The day started off well with a few drinks in a couple of watering holes before making the journey south to the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre to take our place among thousands of other people.
As we stood around drinking more pints of lager from plastic cups it started raining. At which point the Google reps (can’t remember their names. Was one of them Monica?) each brought out their Google monogrammed cagouls, or CaGoogles as they called them (sigh). Had they brought some for us? No they hadn’t, so we got soaked through!
It chucked it down for the rest of the day and night which at least meant that the cigarette-lighter-waving crowd couldn’t do their thing!
On the old version of my site I had some pictures of that day, so what better time to migrate them over here. So click here to take a look at some drowned-rat looking media types trying to have fun watching Coldplay!
(the support act that night were Interpol, whatever happened to them?)
Here’s the set list from that concert
