Isn’t It Ironic
After the washing machine saga yesterday, we’ve now got a problem with our phone line, so I was on the phone to Virgin Media this morning to try and get it fixed. After going through their complex menu system where you get RSI from selecting from all the different options, I finally made it through to a human man who, after taking some details, decided he needed to put me through to a technician, or more capable person, who would run a couple of tests for me.
To do so he needed to place me on hold, which I normally hate as you have to put up with the tinny effects of a nondescript song as it wafts down the line into your ears. But not this time. Oh no! This time I actually chuckled away to myself as I was entertained with ‘Everybody in Love’ by those young and trendy popsters, JLS. If you don’t know the song, YouTube it!
“But that’s not a comedy song” i hear you say. No it isn’t, but what made me laugh was that the first line I heard after being put on hold was part of the chorus which goes “I’d wait forever and a day for you”, which while on hold seemed most apt. Even the first line of the chorus appears to sum up the time we spend these days being put on hold – “Every minute’s like an hour, every hour’s like a day”. Yes it is, so could you answer your phones a little quicker?
I wonder if Virgin knew what they were doing when they added this to their on-hold playlist? Or if it’s just me that finds these things funny?
