Hiking, Mountains and Our Next Hotel

I don’t know what we were thinking when we booked it, but we were up early this morning to go on a hike! We were dropped off near a temple that was being prepared for one of their religious ceremonies and then hiked up into the hills and through some rice fields. It was a bit tiring but there were some lovely views to be seen.

At midday we were picked up to be taken to our next location in the east of the island, which would be a three hour journey. This was broken up with a stop at some very picturesque rice fields near Tampaksiring which provided a good photo opportunity.

We then continued north for a while, climbing the roads around the peaks area for some good views of Mount (Gunung) Batur and another photo opportunity at our lunch stop. The weather had changed during the journey and the rain and clouds spoilt the view a little bit.

The journey continued on into the hills as we skirted around Gunung Penulisan and then finally headed back down towards sea level and onto the coastal road to finally reach our destination, the Spa Village Resort.

We were greeted with a drink and a footwash before being taken to our room and shown our itinerary for the coming week! That’s right, an itinerary!

The resort puts together a programme of treatments and other activities for you to enjoy during your stay which is included in the price. You then have the option to change them around or to upgrade to other treatments at a small cost. I love me a massage and so this is my idea of heaven!
