Hear’Say Suck
Hear’Say were the first pop group in the UK to be manufactured in front of viewers on the television show Popstars (based on a New Zealand show) back in 2000. They were bad. The songs were bad. Yet people bought into this bollocks in their droves!
I didn’t.
The whole idea of manufactured pop groups annoys me. 99.9% of the time the indivduals concerned have no musical ability, and are chosen based purely on their looks. they can’t play instruments and all of their songs are written by other people who just churn out the same old drivel time and time again.
The Saturdays, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, all nondescript tosh that sounds so similar I’m surprised they don’t accidentally sing each others songs in concert. Oh, sorry, mime each others songs in concert!
Back when Hear’Say were launching a violent assault on my eardrums I set up a website called HearSaySuck that poked the finger of fun at them and generally took the piss. It became quite successful, even getting mentions on national radio at the time.
But as Hear’Say bit the dust so too did the website and it now resides on this domain purely for archival reasons. Go and take a look at it, especially the hate mail section. That was my favourite bit!
