Alphabetic Dinner Club – Inamo

inamo restaurant

Last night was Alphabetic Dinner Club night and so the posse headed down to Inamo on Regent Street for some oriental food.

Inamo’s main feature is the brilliant food ordering system but I’m probably saying that as I’m a techy geek! Everything is projected onto your table from overhead and is controlled by your table’s mouse. You browse through the menu and as you do so, a description and an image of what it looks like appears in front of you!

The system is great as you can browse, select and order at your own pace, there’s no more trying to catch your waiter’s attention! Want to get an extra side dish after your other dishes have come out? no problem, just order it. Finished your drink and want another one quickly? Just order it!

It’s really simple to use, just browse through the different sections (small dish, large dish, sides and drink sub menus) selecting the dishes you want. Everything is collated for you and you can remove dishes if you change your mind. And once you’ve made your final decision, hit the Order button.

Just a word of warning, if you’re going for a more traditional 2/3-course meal it’s better to order your starters first, wait for them to arrive and then order your main, otherwise everything will come out at once!

All the food we ordered (and there was quite a bit!) arrived very quickly and it was really good as well. I went for some Baby Crispy Prawns and the Truffeled Marbled Beef from the small dish menu and then had the Duck With Pancakes and a side-order of rice. Everything was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The mango relish that came with the prawns was exceptional!

The tables also have a couple of extra features including a Chef-cam so you can watch the chefs do their thing in the kitchen as well as some table games to play. So after dinner while we had a few more drinks and our bill was sorted out some of us played Battleships. I lost!

Inamo is definitely a place I’d visit again, and not just because of the techy tables. Maybe I’ll stay off the cocktails though, as they really pushed the bill up!
