We’ve Only Gone And Done It
Now that all of the family have been told in face-to-face meetings taking place around the country, it’s now safe to announce it…
The gf is no longer my gf. She and I are getting married!!
Yes that’s right, after 16 years of being together we’ve decided to make it proper formal-like and get hitched. After months of planning, I proposed to her on the last night of our holiday in the Maldives and she eventually said yes!
But it wasn’t all as straight forward as that sounds. No, as is the norm when it comes to me doing anything, there were a few little hiccups!
Firstly, I had to hide the ring from her for 2 weeks. Not an easy task especially as there was really only one place I could put it, the room’s safe. But the gf would be in and out of it most days, and so it was placed inside my headphone case.
Secondly, the original plan was to do the deed on the penultimate evening, on the hotel’s jetty at sunset. Unfortunately it pissed it down with rain all day on that Thursday and so the clouds obscured the sun all day and there was no sunset to speak off. Just a slowly descending darkness.
So I had to delay everything for another day and if it continued to rain on the Friday then it wouldn’t be quite as romantic as I had planned.
To cut a very long story short, I eventually had a window of opportunity to do the deed, so there I am, down on one knee, in my shorts and flip-flops asking her!
After what seemed an eternity she says “yes” and we head off to the bar to celebrate and despite having to be up incredibly early the next day we stay out until about 1am celebrating!
