Touchdown In Tokyo

22nd April 2006 – 10:03

It’s 10am on Saturday morning and I’ve been up for a couple of hours already!

Having eventually gone to sleep at about 5pm I woke up at around 10pm thinking it was about 6 in the morning! No such luck. I lay in bed for a while before deciding that I couldn’t get back to sleep so decided to check my mail. To cut a long story short, I finally started to feel tired at about 1am but still didn’t get to sleep for about another hour.

A restless night was cut short at 8am by the alarm on the mobile phone I’d been given going off, so any chance of sleeping in was suddenly gone.

Trying to use the appliances in the apartment is proving to be quite difficult as everything (funnily enough) is in Japanese. So far I have managed to only get hot air out of the air con, and can’t see how I’m going to be able to use the washing machine without shrinking everything!

Before I went to bed last night I decided to take a shower but couldn’t get any hot water. From any of the taps! When I woke at 9pm last night it dawned on me what one of the consoles on the wall was – you guessed it – a unit to adjust the water heater! Having spent 5 minutes trying to turn it on I eventually got it to set to 75°C which this morning was way too hot. I’ve now turned it down to 45°C!

Not only is my body clock all over the place but I’ve just realised I haven’t actually eaten in 24 hours so I’m off to the shop in a minute to buy some cereals (if there are any!) so I can have some breakfast. Got to buy some washing up liquid as well.

A bit of good news though, I think I’ve found a radio station online that will be broadcasting the semi final tomorrow night!
