Spotify Widgets
Spotify continues to impress me with it’s massive selection of music. If you haven’t read my previous post about Spotify you can find it here.
They have recently updated it with nearly 100,000 tracks over the last 2 weeks and it’s been good to see plenty of new stuff added including Eminem’s new album Relapse (not as good as I thought it’d be) and new releases by bands/artists such as Simple Minds and Marilyn Manson.
The only thing that has started to bug me about it is the number of adverts that get played. I know that the only reason it continues to be free is that it’s paid for by the advertisers but when three adverts appear one after the other it does start to annoy!
One of my friends on Twitter recently posted the question “wouldn’t it be great if #spotify could show your peers what you are listening to on social sites similar to the MSN headphone app on msngr“. Well there is a way of doing just that, it’s just a bit fiddly…
You have the ability to link your Spotify account to a Last.fm account (check in the settings of Spotify for details on how to do this). Once you have done this there are a couple of widgets on the Last.fm site that allow you to share your playlist information, including ones for Facebook and MySpace.
What I have done on this site is to download the LastFM for WordPress widget and as you can see, down there on the right hand side, is the list of my recently played tracks from Spotify.
So there is no excuse for you not to share your tracks with your friends, wherever you are!
