So Much To Catch Up On

It’s amazing how quickly you can fall behind on something isn’t it? In a world full of media, there is so much to keep up to date with that at times it can be a struggle just to keep on top of one media, let alone 3 or 4!

I can break down mine into 5 general areas. There’s TV, Film, Games, Books and Comics. Film is generally the easier of them as films I want to see are relatively few in number. At this time of year though I tend to want to see those films that are nominated for Oscars to see what all the fuss is about. This generally means around 6 or 7 more films to watch. Not too difficult to do.

Comics would probably come next. There are currently 4 series of comics that I like to read, although I haven’t read any of them since last year so I am falling a little behind here. There’s The Walking Dead, Invincible, Suicide Squad and the full Silver Surfer series. Luckily, the latter series have now stopped but the first two have new editions brought out each month.

When it comes to Books, there aren’t many that I keep up to date with. Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books, The Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay and Lee Child’s Reacher novels are the only ones that I tend to read, and I usually save these for when I’m lying on a beach somewhere. However, I seem to have acquired a lot of other books over the last couple of years for Christmases and birthdays which I haven’t even looked at yet including about 10 or so books about West Ham!

And then we come to the two mediums in which I have got lots of catching up to do on, the first of which is TV. Recently, The Wife and I have got into the routine of saving up some programs, either on the Sky+ box or downloaded ones, and then binge watching them a few episodes at a time. While there are some that we’ll watch as they are available, we’re now stacking up a number of episodes, waiting until we’re partly through a season before starting to watch them.

At the moment we have Elementary, American Horror Story and Mentalist to get through, while we have the second (and final) season of Carnivale still sat on our Sky+ box and the whole of Breaking Bad just waiting to be watched. I also have Hawaii Five-O and Justified to get through that The Wife isn’t interested in.

The last category is games, whether it be on the PS4, PS3 or my Vita. As a subscriber to Playstation+ I get free games each month, usually at least one or two per platform, although some of them may be cross-play across two or all three platforms. So over the last year, that is a lot of free games!

On the PS4 in addition to the free PS+ games I still have Alien: Isolation to finish off as I am only about two thirds of the way through the story at the moment and still have extra survival modes and a new storyline featuring the crew members from the original film.

Driveclub is continuing to release new features and so it’s growing in popularity and there are plenty of challenges from other players to work through as well as the different Tour modes to finish. I’ve got Lego Batman 3 to play through from the beginning and Lego Avengers still to complete.

But it is the Vita where I have the largest number of games just waiting to be played. I’ve got just over fifty games stored on it and I have probably played about 15 of them, but only 5 or 6 of these to completion.

The big problem is trying to find time to wade through all of these things and so I think for the next couple of months I will be utilising my commuting time, the only real free time I get to myself, by playing through at last half of those games and by then there will most likely be even more TV programmes to watch!
