Saved Myself £100. Result!
It’s that time of year again when I have to sort out my car insurance for the next 12 months. I received my renewal quote from my current providers a few days ago and they’ve put the cost of it up by £120 (nearly a 50% increase!). Not quite sure why this has happened. My car’s not worth any more than it was last year, I’ve had no accidents and I haven’t moved house to a crime-ridden neighbourhood.
So I jumped onto the usual collection of insurance comparison websites (the meerkat one and the fat opera singer one) mainly to find a better deal for myself, and came up with some quotes around about the same price I paid last year. Well, one that was cheaper and a few that were about £20 more.
Then it was back on the phone to my current company to see if they could match or do a better deal than I’d been quoted.
Fifteen minutes later and they had dropped the price to that of their competitors, and it was actually a slightly better deal as I was getting a lower excess and they would continue to allow The Wife to accrue a no claims bonus!
I wonder how many people get their renewal quotes and just pay them. Whoever they are, they’re probably paying far too much each year!
