Here We Go Then

In a little over a week it will be my 40th birthday and as a surprise, The Wife had arranged a holiday to somewhere, I knew not where. And so today was the first time in my life that I have turned up at an airport not knowing where I was going to. But I’m glad to say it turned out well.

We had an early start as our taxi to the airport was arranged for 6am and the sun was just rising as we got to Heathrow. We unloaded our gear and walked into the airport at which point we found a screen with the departures from our terminal and The Wife asked “So where do you think we are going?”.

As you can see above, from the list on the screen it wasn’t hard to work out as there were some places that weren’t your typical holiday destinations and so I deduced that we would be flying to Kuala Lumpur. However, this is usually a lay-over location and it wasn’t to be our final destination so I was still none the wiser. There are numerous places that we could have gone to from KL and so I was given a present to unwrap. This turned out to be a guide book for Bali. We were heading to the Island of the Gods!

We checked in for our flights, made our way through security and found somewhere to eat breakfast and after a little bit of shopping made our way to our gate where we now sit waiting to board our plane. This is going to be one hell of a cool trip!
