Americans Is Stoopid

It’s always nice to poke fun at Americans, so how lucky are we that Fox News gave us the opportunity to point and laugh at them once again.

Apple yesterday added a little teaser to the iTunes site announcing “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget” which many speculate will be the news that the Beatles back catalogue will be availble on iTunes for the first time ever, (I like to think that they’re releasing Jon Secada’s back catalogue and covers of Take That songs!).

And so when Fox News put this story on their website how did they describe the biggest band of all time? Was it as loveable Scousers? Maybe Liverpool’s greatest export? Could it have been as simple as the ‘Fab Four’?

No. They described them as “Manchester’s favorite mopheads”. They couldn’t have insulted them more could they? They’re not exactly each other’s favourite city now are they? Lennon and Harrison must be turning in their graves. It’s a common belief that Americans are a bit naive when it comes to the world and this just enforces this belief. “Manchester? Liverpool? It’s all the same in the North of Great Britain Land!”

Just in case they’ve realised the mistake and have changed it on the link above (which they now have), here’s a screenshot of the massive cock-up for posterity (clicky to make biggy).

UPDATE: And if you did really care, they have announced that they now have Beatles tracks available on iTunes.

SECOND UPDATE: Fox news have now changed the site to read “Englands favorite mopheads”
