It’s Time To Playstation 5

Sony Playstation 5

Seven years after the launch of the Playstation 4, it was time to upgrade and, as I managed to back then, get hold of a PS5 on launch day.

The PS5 had suffered from a lot of allocation issues, with websites selling out in a few minutes, orders being cancelled after having gone through, and this meant a lot of people were going to miss out on the new generation of consoles.

Fortunately, although without incident, I had been able to get hold of one from a local Game store, and was also lucky enough to get a backup via Shopto. So just as I had done with the PS4, I had got two consoles and so was at least guaranteed to be able to start playing on launch day.

The only other decision to make was what games to buy to play on it. The first was a no-brainer, the new Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a follow-up to the stand-out game of 2018 that won many awards. It was the game that rekindled my love of gaming and I spent many hours swinging around New York as the titular character playing the main story as well as carrying out numerous side tasks.

There was also Watch Dogs: Legion, the latest in Ubisoft’s hacker series, and this time it was set in London, so it would be good to drive around London, carrying out the story but actually recognising various landmarks around the place. Maybe I could crash into my office?

Astro’s Playroom comes pre-loaded on the console and is an absolute joy to play. A perfect homage to all things Playstation that showcases all of the new functionality of the console with fun gameplay as well.

So there’s a few games to keep me quiet for a bit, and a few good ones on the horizon as well, including the new Rachet & Clank game. This is going to be fun…
