Anyone For Cricket

Sometimes at work, we get some nice little perks which can go a little way to making the every day mundane stuff a bit more bearable. Yesterday was one such day when I was offered a ticket to watch the cricket at The Oval. I’ve never been to watch cricket before, in fact, I’m not a massive fan of the sport, but I wasn’t going to pass up on the opportunity to try something new and get out of the office for a few hours.

I headed down to Kennington and met up with some colleagues there and took our place within our little suite and helped myself to some breakfast. Did I mention that food and booze were all included?

As well as watching the cricket this was supposed to be a networking event so we made some small talk with a few other people who were there. I then proceeded to forget pretty much everything about them as my memory’s a bit crap.

The cricket eventually started and so armed with an alcoholic beverage we took our seats in the sunshine and watched the match play out. I was able to follow what was going on, but cricket is a bit of a boring sport and this wasn’t a fast-paced match.

I don’t remember who won, and that wasn’t down to the alcohol, but more to do with the fact that I had to leave before the end of play in order to get home. Overall it wasn’t a bad way to spend the day, but I won’t be in a hurry to watch another match.
