Bugsy Malone

It’s one of my favourite films, and last night The Wife and I went off to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith to see the new stage version of Bugsy Malone.

It’s the story of a guy (Bugsy) who helps out a mob boss against his rival in 1920s Chicago while also finding love, and as in the film, all the parts are played by children.

Normally I’d steer clear of shows predominantly featuring children as they tend to be quite precociously annoying, but this production didn’t really suffer from that. Except maybe a bit of overacting by the Lena Marelli/Babyface actress!

It’s only on a limited run into September so if you like the film it’s worth going to see it…
