Ripped Off Once Again!

It’s the time of year when I have to blow a small fortune for the privilege of having my sorry arse dragged to and from work each weekday, and this year it’s nice to see that Southeastern Railway have outdone themselves yet again.

For no reason whatsoever (apart from them being robbing bastards), the price of my annual train ticket has jumped up a massive 9%. Last year I had to pay £3808 but this year it has broken through the £4k barrier going up to a whopping £4160.

So what do I get for this 9.25% increase I hear you ask. Well, absolutely sod all. There will be no improvement in the service I receive. I’m hoping for no snow this year because last year the rail network effectively shut down for a week because of their inability to deal with it.

The train I catch each morning now takes 4% longer than it did at this time last year, and that train will arrive late at least once a week. On the plus side, at least I don’t have to put up with an overcrowded train like The Wife does though.

Next year, Southeastern will be getting extra revenue from tourists travelling to and from Stratford when the Olympics hits our shores in July and August, but will they pass any of this onto their customers? Of course not. We will still have to put up with a sub-standard service and we’ll see another increase in our fares once again next year.
