Valentine’s Day On An Deserted Island
Valentines Day, and I had a special trip planned for today. A few weeks ago I had emailed the hotel to arrange a surprise for the gf…I had hired a deserted island for the day! Unfortunately, upon our arrival last week this trip was mentioned all over our paperwork and so the gf saw straight away that we would be going there! So much for keeping it a surprise 🙁
We caught a boat at 9:45 which took us on the 15 minute journey to one of three islands we can see from our resort. We had the whole place to ourselves for the day. A leisurely walk around the island took only 12 minutes. Lunch was provided, and boy what a feast it was! We were expecting a small packed lunch but there was more food than even the gf could eat. There was…
4 whole breaded chicken breasts
8 vegetable spring rolls
1 whole seeded bloomer made up as ham, cheese and salad sandwiches
4 croissants
2 bread rolls
4 muffins
4 cherry pastries
4 apples
4 oranges
4 bottles of Fanta
4 bottles of Coke
8 bottles of water
All this for two people, and we were only supposed to be there for 5 hours!
Needless to say we didn’t do much there except eat, read, enjoy the sun and make friends with the local wildlife. Every time we popped round to get some food we would be welcomed by a family of pointy-beak noddy-head birds (latin name ‘funny looking little birds‘) and a small army of crabs!
When we came down for dinner in the evening we found that we had been given a table outside, under the stars with a chilled bottle of wine waiting for us. It was a lovely end to the whole day, topped off with three shooting stars as we lay on the beach staring into the night sky.
