Yellow Light Of Death
Last night my PS3 decided to stop working,
PS3 has just done the dreaded 3 beeps and flashing red light 🙁

This looks to be the problem commonly known as the Yellow Light Of Death, or YLOD, so called as just before it dies it flashes a yellow light followed by three red ones and some beeping and then turns itself off.
The reason for this is a soldering problem on the motherboard, and while there are companies who fix the problem, there are videos on YouTube that show how you can have a go at fixing it yourself. All you need to do is stick the PS3 in a box, attack it with a hairdryer for about fifteen minutes and then cool it down with a fan.
So that’s going to be a job to do at the weekend, once I’ve managed to borrow a fan from someone…
