Footy Update For Medway 2000 FC

With the postponement of our 3rd match in 4 weeks due to the weather, Medway 2000 ended up finishing 2009 last weekend with our draw against Park Lane. It was the 4th time we’d played them this season having met them already in 2 different cup competitions (they beat us both times) and once in the league when we took the 3 points.

Although we drew 2-2 with them we really should have taken all 3 points as we dominated the first half, but our strikers couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo, which has been the story of our season so far! In fact we left it late yet again, scoring our second with only 6 minutes left!

Park Lane have been my lucky team this season, as I’d already scored twice against them, including the winner in the previous league match. So it was probably inevitable that I would score again and I did so, grabbing our first half equaliser, a close-range header from Jordan’s free-kick. This brought my tally to 5 goals so far this season, 4 of which were headers, which when you consider my normal heading abilities is quite a feat! Not bad for a 34-year old defender!

So with our next match not until the 3rd January, we’ve got a little break to reflect on what has been quite a successful year for us. Promotion at the end of last year, currently 4th in the MMSFL division two, a cup final appearance and sponsorship in the form of the Lucozade Sport Performance League, let’s hope this continues into 2010!
